I am having issues getting things up and running on a remote server. I was able to get everything to work great on my local machine, but for some reason I keep getting "500 Internal Server Error" when going to the web.
I have set up the database and executed the sql file. I have extracted the files to the web root. I have edited the config.php file. I feel I am just missing something simple, but figure it out.
Path:
http://www.pixel8logic.com/quarantine/combu/admin/
Setup I have so far:
I know in the FAQ you mention setting short_open_tag=On
I don't have an .htaccess file but I'm not sure that is the issue. Any ideas?
Problem resolved! I talked with tech support with the hosting company and they needed to set something on their end. Nothing I did wrong or with the the Combu system.
I'm having this problem now after upgrading to the latest combu. Just fired an email off to the hosting company. Neither the admin or the setup pages work.
The hosting company just rang me and walked me through the problem. Apparently the admin folder had the wrong permission code set. They said it had to be done manually, though I don't ever remember touching anything to do with permission codes. Hmm..
To use the auto-update feature on server admin console your combu folder (and its subdirectories) must have also write permissions.
Now I don't know what's happened on your server since it hadn't correct permissions when you auto-updated, so I'd suggest to edit the file /lib/constants.php and set the constant COMBU_VERSION to what you had before, then retry the auto-update from admin.

HTTP 500 means nothing, you should read the real error in the error log file on your web server, it's probably a misconfiguration of permissions of your web server similarly to the posts above.
